Anyone who can make a perfectly cooked steak in a kitchen the size of an airplane bathroom is 5 stars in my book!
We loved this place from the minute we walked in. We made a reservation, having seen on these reviews that they had very limited seating. Limited was definitely the optimal word; there were 8-9 total tables for 2 in the whole place!
We loved that it made the whole experience much more intimate. The restaurant has a very rustic feel: exposed brick and intimate lighting.
The service was equally excellent. Three men controlled the entire place, simultaneously serving as the waiter/maitre d', cook/waiter, and busboy/spiderman (no joke! he scaled the walls in the back to a pantry hidden in the ceiling!) The waiter/maitre d' came over and described the specials to us, recommended wine pairings, and was generally very helpful and accomadating. He even sent over a free dessert after we paid the check since the dessert we had wanted had been sold out.
The food was SOOO good. We had the special ravioli appetizer, which was cooked perfectly and had a great sauce. We then each tried one of the special entrees...I had the steak, and my girlfriend tried the chicken. Both were excellently prepared and seasoned. The only complaint we had were my girlfriend's green beans, which had been overly seasoned. That one grievance was easily forgotten in light of the rest of our evening!
The waiter/maitre d' even invited us to come to their expanding party in a few months when they break down the walls. As Shea said, whoever invites me to a party is a-ok in my book!!!
When you can't find me I'll be here with a glass of wine and a filet mignon. :) |
